Grant Opportunities

2018 for 2019 Basic Needs Grant

The Basic Needs Grant program is meant to help support programs providing services Lake Area United Way defines as “basic needs” including food, housing, shelter, utility assistance, clothing, mental health and legal assistance (related to a basic need). These funds are available to any 501(c)3 organization, in Lake County, Indiana & Lansing, Illinois, whose programs fall into these categories, whether or not they have previously been funded by LAUW. Past funding does NOT guarantee funding for the 2018 for 2019 funding cycle. Grant awards are intentionally short-term and will last one year.

As a capacity building effort, in conjunction with grant funding, Lake Area United Way is offering Charity Tracker, a shared, web-based case management system, at no cost to interested organizations.Charity Tracker is user-friendly and intuitive and offers users the ability to record assistance, access customized reports, goal-set and track outcomes and make direct, electronic referrals to other network providers for services.

Lake Area United Way is working diligently to build a network of providers that are able to better serve their clients through the use of Charity Tracker. For this reason, organizations that are currently utilizing Charity Tracker or willing to implement the system will receive preference in the application process. LAUW will provide all relevant, training, onboarding and support for Charity Tracker.
