Young Leaders United Kicks Off!

Lake Area United Way is excited to announce "Young Leaders United", an affinity group for young leaders ages 21 - 35.   We believe that there is so much to fight for, so much to change.  Today, our community is faced with difficulties and many uncertainties.  We strongly believe that the key to overcoming these challenges lies within the hearts and minds of young leaders in our community.

Our Mission
Young Leaders United (YLU) is on a mission to connect, convene, and catalyze young leaders, ages 21 – 35.  Our members represent the rich diversity of our community and include men and women of different race and ethnicity, religious beliefs, political points of view, and socio-economic status.

United for Change
We are united in a common vision for our community.  We envision a community in which every child, regardless of socio-economic status, has equal opportunity to succeed and reach their fullest potential.  A community where the elderly are cared for and are able to age with dignity.  A community that is founded on strong, loving, thriving families.

Change Makers
Young Leaders United members are changing the landscape of our community.  Together, we…

LEAD
We believe that YLU members have a unique perspective and fresh energy that can greatly contribute to the leadership of local non-profit organizations.    YLU provides members with board governance training and upon completion connects them to serve on a local non-profit board.  During the YLU member’s first term, he/she is supported with mentoring and coaching to ensure that they are actively contributing to the organization.

VOLUNTEER
YLU members have a heart of service.  They come together throughout the year to lend their talent and muscle to service projects in our community.  YLU service projects span a wide range of community needs and can include reading to school aged children, packing meals for the hungry, providing help to the homeless, and more.

CONNECT
YLU provides social networking opportunities throughout the year to encourage members to build relationships that will help advance their professional as well as personal goals.
